Class parent representatives (Parents délégués)

Class parent representatives (Parents délégués)

Primary school

Parents délégués are primary school volunteer parents who:

- help the school and other parents in the class organize events and field trips;

- welcome newcomers during the school year to answer any questions they may have;

- direct parents to teachers and the principal if they have questions about the functioning of the school and class;

- direct school-related issues to the school council.

During the class meeting at the beginning of the school year, teachers ask volunteer parents to come forward.

The contact details of the volunteer parents are then communicated to all parents in the class by e-mail.

Secondary school

Parents délégués are parent representatives and can facilitate relationships between class parents and school staff. They can intervene with teachers and management to discuss a particular problem or to offer mediation at the request of some parents. They also attend the quarterly class council where the general dynamics of the class and each pupil are discussed.

During the class meeting at the beginning of the school year, teachers ask volunteer parents to come forward. If the number of volunteers is greater than the available places, an election takes place.

The contact details of the parent representatives are communicated to all parents in the class by email and contact details of parents in the class are made available to parent representatives if parents have agreed to this via Eduka.
