About LCS

Lycée Condorcet Sydney - The International French School

At Lycée Condorcet Sydney, our mission is to give students a world-class education in an international environment that allows them to graduate as French-English bilingual citizens of the world. As well as offering a complete school curriculum for children aged 3 to 18 in French and English, LCS is also a member of the worldwide network of French schools abroad and follows the principles and values of educational excellence “à la française.” Our students come from all over the world and from many different backgrounds to gain a high-quality, well-rounded education in a French yet multi-cultural environment. After graduation they are able to pursue further studies anywhere they choose as citizens of the world.

Meet the Principal

Dear parents, welcome to Lycée Condorcet Sydney. My name is Nicolas L’Hotellier and I have the privilege of being the principal of this wonderful school, which is part of the network of French schools abroad. This network is the largest of its kind in the world, and is led by the Agency for French Education Abroad, the AEFE.

Our school welcomes nearly 1100 students of more than 50 different nationalities, from pre-kindergarten to the end of secondary school. We are simultaneously an international school with a French curriculum, and an independent school in New South Wales. We are proud of this dual identity, which is an asset for us and our students.

Sport, the arts and multilingualism are at the heart of our educational approach and our students participate in numerous projects and competitions at local, national and international level.

Our school is fortunate to offer our students three different secondary school leaving certificates to choose between. The Baccalauréat, first of all, the signature of French education, and the same certificate that students in France and in French schools around the world aim to obtain. An international variation of this same certificate is the OIB, ‘Option Internationale Britannique’, which allows our students to obtain official recognition of their advanced language skills, and finally the International Baccalaureate, a diploma that does not come under the Ministry of National Education. These diplomas are of equal value and enjoy an excellent reputation with universities around the world. They correspond to different student profiles and therefore allow us to offer pathways which cater to different strengths, ambitions and learning preferences.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or wish to discuss your child’s future at Lycée Condorcet Sydney. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Nicolas L’Hotellier,

Principal

AEFE - a Global Network

Excellence, sharing, outreach… Created in 1990, the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) is a national public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

535 schools in 139 countries offer education in line with the requirements of the French national education system. These approved establishments are the bearers of humanist values – tolerance, equality between girls and boys, equal opportunities, intellectual curiosity and critical thinking – and allow for seamless multilingual schooling from nursery school to the baccalaureate, as well as access to higher education worldwide.

Beyond academic excellence, being part of this network allows our students to benefit from the worldwide network of French schools abroad, and thus to participate in numerous cultural, sporting and artistic events around the world, in the ADN-AEFE exchange programme and to be part of the network of alumni of French schools around the world.
