The 5th Asia-Pacific Swimming Championships were a success!

AN UNFORGETTABLE COMPETITION
The 5th edition of the Asia-Pacific Swimming Championships ended Sunday 9th April at Lycée Condorcet Sydney with the closing ceremony. The week was amazing! For young swimmers aged 10 to 18, taking part in a competition of this magnitude was a magical experience: 4 days of competition away from home, 272 swimmers from 12 French international schools, videos and times of their races available Live on the Internet and on social networks, a 2004 Olympic medal sponsor (relay 4x200 metres freestyle) and former swimming world champion (200 metres freestyle) in 2005, photographers, reporters, officials... The swimmers gave the best of themselves, they can be proud of their results: 44 new records were registered!
AN EXEMPLARY ORGANIZATION
The Lycée Condorcet of Sydney organized this 5th edition with the support of Randwick City Council and DRLC Maroubra Swimming Club. The Lycée Condorcet Sydney school community played a key role: 100 volunteers were present throughout the week and 150 families welcomed young swimmers. The organisation of the discovery day of the Australian coastal sports activities was made possible thanks to South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club. The organizing team would also like to thank the CAPN 2017 sponsors: Solar + Solution, SLS, HSBC Bank Australia, Santa Vittoria, AMC Commercial Cleaning, Crédit Agricole CIB, French Australian Chamber of Commerce, Associated Translators & Linguists, Snape Park Tennis Center.
HONG-KONG, CHAMPION 2017
The French International School of Hong Kong team finished first overall with 2067.5 points, followed by the Lycée Condorcet Sydney team (1832 points) and the French School of Singapore team (1699 points). The championships included 60 individual races and 10 mixed team races in a 25 meter pool, in different swimming styles: freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, backstroke and medley. The rules were standardised by the FINA (International Federation of Swimming) regulations. The competition was supervised by Swimming NSW officials.

The Asia Pacific Swimming Championships (CAPN) is a swimming competition between the French schools in Asia-Pacific, supported by the AEFE (the Agency for French Education Abroad) and its network of more than 495 schools In 137 countries, as part of their Asia-Pacific program.
Following the success of the previous four editions in Kuala Lumpur in 2013 and 2016 and in Shanghai in 2014 and 2015, Lycée Condorcet is pleased to have hosted the 5th edition. This unprecedented event enables young swimmers to develop team spirit, fair play, and important values such as solidarity, respect for others and rules, and total self-commitment, but also to discover a new culture, a new country!
