Visit to the German International School of Sydney

Visit to the German International School of Sydney

After the German International School’s visit to Lycée Condorcet last year, it was our students’ turn to visit there.
On May 30, 2017 all students studying German in year 9 and 10 had the opportunity to visit the German International School of Sydney and spend the whole day attending classes.
In order to help our students cope with classroom work as well as to ease their integration for the day, the German students had organised a buddy for each of our students. This was very much appreciated by our students and as a result they have continued to correspond with their German buddy, writing to each other in the language they study (French for the German school students and German for our students).
My colleague in the German International School and myself have been very excited and motivated to organise this exchange and would like to continue doing so in the coming years.
Below you can find some remarks made by our students about the exchange. The students wrote these in German and I have translated them here for you:

“I had a very nice day at the German School. I have discovered a new and different way of learning. “
“The tables were arranged very differently, and I really liked that.”
“I liked that everyone worked individually and at their own level.”
“I didn’t understand a thing in maths, and neither did my buddy.”
“I had lots of fun in the German School!”
“There was a nice atmosphere in the classroom.”
“I saw that the students worked more on their computers. That would be better for me because I’m not very organised with my paperwork.”
“Thank you for your hospitality. I hope we can organise another exchange soon.”
